Chadema will send to Supreme Court, the police force to
persecute and detain 12 people opposite to the constitutional order and legal.
Tundu Lissu, the Attorney General of Chadema has told
journalists today in Dar es Salaam that, until next Tuesday, if the police force
will not lead them to court for political reasons, we will send them to the
Supreme Court.
"I have done interviews with 10 people who are impacted
by Oysterbay police station and the Central Police Station. Detainees of
Oysterbay have talked in front of the head of the center that have suffered so
much. While in custody of the police have been beaten too much.
"They are taken from inmates Mikocheni night and taken
to a torture center. They put off clothes by police and beaten to bleeding.
They are suspended in police stations over two weeks without trial simply
because of suspicion, "said Lissu.
"Since the police force, violates the
constitution and the law, reaching the next Tuesday if they will be still
there, not these people to be in the court. We will go to the Supreme Court to
use the mechanism of 'Habeas Corpus' and the army will be called to court to
explain why they are holding them illegally, "said Lissu.
He said the party has extensive unofficial information that
until now the whole country held a total of 73 people in what was called,
"criticized the administration of President John Magufuli" including
distributing video that is showing Lissu saying President Magufuli is 'dictator
uchwara'
"The court must ask police, why are holding and
torturing people without taking them to court? If we will not speak out about these non
leaders then many Tanzanians will get hurt, "said Lissu.
According to the laws of Tanzania, the police force has to
hold someone as an inmate for a maximum of 24 hours after which they should
bring to court.
Article 360 of the Law of Criminal Conduct, provides the
Supreme Court, giving orders anyone who is being held illegally brought to
trial or released.
