MILLION 1.3 COLLECTED FROM THE BRIDGE OF KIGAMBONI

A total of 1.3 billion shillings has been gathered from the existing bridge Kigamboni Nyerere in Dar es Salaam via various charges paid by travel agencies that move the bridge there.These have been identified by the Director General of the Social Security Fund (NSSF) Prof. Godius Kahyarara while stating revenue generated on the bridge since it opened officially on May 14 this year.
Prof. Kahyarara said that the funds collected through the levy of vehicles, including private cars, passenger cars, trucks, motorcycles and Bajaj beyond that bridge every day.
For its part of the Project Manager Grade Nyerere, Mr. Gerald fez said that the government in collaboration with the leadership of the bridge have a plan to improve payment services to users of the bridge that they can pay the charges for using the card electronically.
"Soon we hope to establish a payment system using electronic cards where drivers travel agencies will be used to pay the charges when they passed the bridge" said fez.
He added that the system will ease the challenges of mobile cash received for revenue collectors bridge there, thus eliminating the inconvenience of change and strengthen the security of the funds.
In addition, Mr. Fez explained that the system also will enable users to bridge the pay charges for the use of electronic systems to make financial transactions through banks and various mobile networks.
He said that currently the number of cars, motorcycles and Bajaj beyond the bridge there are between 8 thousand to 10 thousand per day to pay charges according to the type of means of transport.
With regard to pedestrians and bicyclists do not pay any costs are passed on the bridge.
Explaining about the safety of the bridge and its users, Mr. Masondo said that protection is guaranteed for 24 hours every day because there are not enough soldiers with cameras that support the exercise.
He also said that preparing rules of use of the bridge, including fines destruction, pollution, misuse of ways and abusive language.
