Governor of the Bank of Tanzania, Professor Ndulu, said that
avoiding transit in the port of Dsm and use the ports of neighbor countries in
terms of evading taxation, will return due to the high cost of transporting
such loads.
Professor Ndulu said this today in Dsm when speaking to the press
on the state of the economy of our country. "Declining freight is a matter of transition, people
said they would go to the port of Mombasa, South and so on, all these shall return,
due to the cost of transport that will be used is great than," he said. He said revenue in Dsm is increasing rapidly and those who
spread the rumor of its revenues to decline are those who evade paying taxes.
"Collections of ports is increasing rapidly although
some people say the number of freight incoming dwindling, remembered that old
luggage was passed without a tax, but now loads that passes is paid toll
properly and that is why the income of ports is increasing rapidly," he
said. He added that "truly there over cargo decreased and
that the situation is normal. Those who avoid transit now and rush ports of
neighbor countries, they will return after realizing the high cost of
transporting cargo to incorporate it in.”
