Tensions
between Chadema and the government have not found a solution, writes Charles
William. When the police force rejecting the meetings and demonstrations of
Chadema concerning Dictatorship, that party says, it is illegal according to
the Constitution.
The statement issued today by Tundu Lissu, the Attorney
General of Chadema in conference press held at the party's headquarters Ufipa
Street in Dar es Salaam. At that meeting with Lawrance Masha, who was Minister
of home affairs (2005-2010) Lissu said,
the president has the opportunity to prevent rallies on condition of argument
in parliament and then discussed and not otherwise. "There is a law
declaring a state of emergency, enacted in 1995, this allows the president to
send a motion in parliament to want to declare a state of emergency for a
period not exceeding three months and if Parliament agree, then the president
declares, I advise Magufuli to do that.
He should announce to all Tanzanians
and to the world that this country is in a situation of danger and in an
emergency, and that all meetings will be banned. "When those three months
ended, he should go back to the parliament to request to add others. To do so
he had not broken the law and that we will obey, "said Lissu. Lissu who is
also the MP for Singida East has asked the military police not to give
statements that causing the country to be in a dictatorial command. Masha also
said, "I've been Secretary of home affairs for five years, but I never ban
public meetings nor the inside. I knew that, there is the importance of people
talking, criticizing and thoughtful. It is advisable to President Magufuli to
know, this is a democratic country and there is the Constitution and the rules
that everyone must follow, including him, statements of dictatorship from the
President, Minister of the Interior and the police force is contrary to the law
and our Constitution.
